Color Theory - The Basics

Ok, lets take you back to school again real quick. The “R”, “G” and “B” you see above are primary colors. In traditional color theory these colors cannot be created by mixing other colors, whereas the overlapping colors you see (Secondary Colors) in the middle are created by mixing the primary colors. The secondary colors are created by adding the primary colors together and is also called “additive color mixing”

RGB is based upon light whereas the CMYK method below is based upon pigments. The CMYK method is called “subtractive color mixing”.
